Life at Warsash...

Hey everyone...just an update on how I am getting on here. The money is strange, it's expensive here, but the people are so friendly.

I spent my first week of classes staying at a Bed and Breakfast called the Dormy House Hotel along with 3 other Carnival UK (our Parent Company) employees. It was a quaint facility with a very comfortable setting and the amenities were just fine. Anglea, the owner, is a wonderful lady and boy can she cook. Our meals were simply incredible. Thanks to you Anglea...we had a wonderful stay.

Friday, I moved on campus to the Hamblemeads facility which is a 12 room w/en-suite building that is used for Officers and Senior Staff that are taking short courses. All the deck and engine cadets and those schooling year round are in a typical dorm style building much the same as UBC offers (like Totem Park) with students being given a room (which they share with a rommate) and there is a common room (TV, Microwave, Fridge, etc) on each floor as well as a common bathroom/shower facility. This building (Shakleton) is much older (I think it was built in the 60's) than Hamblemeads. Facilities for food is the Refectory for Breakfast or Lunch and the Riverside Dining Room for dinner. Meals are just fine.

This is my first weekend here and I am basically on my own. This coming Monday is a "bank" holiday and as such most everyone on campus has left for the weekend. I think I saw maybe 20 people in for brunch yesterday.

Classes...I have completed 4 of the 7 courses I am registered for and have passed all of them. I had a great time with Basic Fire Fighting and as well with Personal Survival Techniques. Looking forward to Advanced Fire Fighting this coming week.

Anyways, that's it for now - thought you might like the update so there it is...Keep in touch everyone and I will update you all next weekend.
