Tic Toc Tic Toc - sooooo much free time

I never thought I would hear myself saying this but...I can be soooooo bored some days while at home. You get used to the hours, the day after day routine aboard ship and then when you hit dry land you've got all this free time.

Worse yet is the fact that all your "land based friends" have jobs that work them Mon-Fri (mostly) which means they are tied up during the week so you have to find things to occupy your time with.

Don't get me wrong - I am enjoying my leave and have accomplished many things while home thus far. I had an EXCELLENT visit with my daughter, Jordan, and a great trip to see two wonderful friends and one of their family in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Now, with time to spare, I am planning to go "camping" with a bunch of buddies to a retreat we've all worked at over the years and that should be a hoot! Additionally, I have the wedding of those two wonderful people (Dylan and Milissa) at the beginning of October to look forward to.

I have also booked some continuing education for myself - prior to coming back aboard ship. I am taking the SSO's course at the BCIT Marine Campus just before leaving to return to work.

Other than that, I am enjoying the sun, have seen many friends, family, and others and have met a host of new people too. Even had the chance to take my family and daughter on the Coral Princess while she was in port, thanks Dave!

Great to see everyone, hope all of you are doing well. A special hello and hope you are well goes out to Ruby who's now in China teaching English for a year. Take care of yourself Ruby!

To all of you though, seriously, be well, enjoy your summer (what's left of it) and I look forward to hearing from you as your time permits.

Dean
